Interest Areas
Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Wahab has more than 17 years of experience in water and environmental engineering teaching, research, and fieldwork. His research area covers a variety of physical and chemical treatment methods in the areas of water, wastewater, hazardous wastes, contaminated soils and sludges. Additionally, his research interests include developing new technologies for water and wastewater systems and optimized hybrid desalination systems. He developed a new technology for multi-component removal from recycled cooling water called the Ultra-High Lime with Aluminum Process (UHLA). His research interests also extend to environmental impact assessment of industrial cooling water discharge and optimization of industrial cooling water systems.

Current research of Dr. Abdel-Wahab:

  • Environmental impact assessment of industrial cooling water discharge
  • Inland desalination of brackish groundwater with zero liquid discharge
  • Hybrid desalination systems
  • Industrial wastewater recycling and reuse and brine treatment
  • Utilization of byproduct sulfur for hazardous wastes treatment
  • Behavior of residual chlorine byproducts in seawater
