INTEREST AREAS
Nimir Elbashir worked in both academia and chemical industry where he conducted extensive research work in variety of chemical processes. He holds three patents-one U.S. patent, two European patents, and one additional, pending U.S. patent application-and has completed research studies on design of reactor technology and applied catalysis for major oil and petrochemical companies such as SABIC R&T, Nippon Oil Corp., and BASF Corp.
His current research activities are focused on the following fields:
- Design of emission control systems for NOx and volatile organic compounds (VOC) generated from stationary plants, gas processing units, and the petrochemical industry
- Selective Catalytic Reactions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in hydrocarbons gases media over different transition metal-exchanged zeolite catalysts.
- Design of advanced reactor technology for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and Gas-to-Liquid technology. Another field of interest to Professor Elbashir is to Improved performance and stability of cobalt-based catalytic systems in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis
